Teams confirmed for Asian Games

The teams for the Twenty20 cricket event in the Asian Games in Guangzhou, the XVI Asiad, have been confirmed.

Bangladesh, China, Hong Kong, Malaysia, Maldives, Nepal, Pakistan, Singapore and Sri Lanka will compete along with Afghanistan. India announced that they won’t be sending a team a few months due to their busy calendar.

The match-schedule has yet to be finalized though in the men’s event it is likely that Bangladesh, Pakistan, Sri Lanka and Afghanistan will be seeded and await to play the best of the other teams that come through the preliminary round.

The Asian Games in Guangzhou, China, will run from November 12th to 27th. This date means there could be a clash with the Intercontinental Cup final, which starts on November 25th. Although Afghanistan haven’t made the IC final yet, it is looking ever likely they will, especially after their win over Scotland on Saturday.
